Clinical Medicine

Ronald W. Davis, Ph.D.

Stanford University

Dr. Davis is the recipient of the 2005 Dickson Prize in Medicine, the most prestigious award presented by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. According to his nominator for this award, Dr. Davis has made a "great positive impact on a broad swath of biomedical research" in the course of his career.

A professor of biochemistry and genetics and director of the Stanford Genome Technology Center at Stanford University, Dr. Davis has made advances in whole genome analysis that have led to the completion of sequences for several organisms, including large portions of the human genome. He has also contributed significantly to the early development of recombinant DNA methods and extended these methods into yeast and higher eukaryotes.
